Moving on

October 28, 2015 {301/365} Moving

"We keep moving forward, opening new doors,
and doing new things..." ~ Walt Disney

After over ten years in the house on the corner that we built while we were engaged, we are moving on. It has been a whirlwind of house showings, cleaning, packing, and meetings. After realizing that we had outgrown with the addition of Miss Piper and that we wanted shade and space, we began looking at houses. Our home was on the market for five days before an offer to buy made moving an imminent reality. The whole process has taken only six weeks. By Halloween, we should be welcoming family, friends, and trick-or-treaters to Hawks Hollow, our new home in Delafield. I'll share pictures soon.

French Friday: Presque Provence

"Language is wine upon the lips." ~ Virginia Woolf

As much as I'd love to be in Provence, the grapes, barrels, and lavender at Stone's Throw Winery in Door County speak to my francophile soul. And if language is indeed wine upon the lips, I prefer a French vintage. Santé!

How unexpected to find a tiny new flower growing up through the dead leaves! Even as the year winds down and the land prepares for winter, there is new life and growth.

This beautiful girl is nine months old today! She is smart, stubborn, and funny. She loves peanut butter, playing outside, "hunting" for rabbits, teasing, and snuggling. She has grown up too fast, but we are happy and blessed that she is so strong and healthy.

Imperfections

“To banish imperfection is to destroy expression,
to check exertion, to paralyze vitality.” ~ John Ruskin

*
As am amateur photographer, I spend hours contemplating my photos -- choosing the best in a series of snapshots, cropping, adjusting exposure and color, and even removing "flaws" from an otherwise agreeable image. Editing can certainly enhance the quality of photos; yet, it is equally important to recognize that "improving" upon nature is usually an artificial refinement that diminishes the subject's exceptional qualities. My goal continues to be to capture everyday moments without altering their unique beauty.
