Hemingway Slept Here

May 21, 2015 (142/366)

"Where a man feels at home, outside of where he’s born,
is where he’s meant to go.” ~ Ernest Hemingway

"Hemingway slept here..." -- it's almost another cliché. I've been to homes in Key West, Paris, the South of France, Spain -- all places where Hemingway slept, and don't get me started on the "Hemingway drank here" signs. But this is where "Papa" was a baby. Ernest Hemingway was born here at 339 Oak Park Avenue in Oak Park, Illinois in 1899 and lived here for the first six years of his life.

After a lovely walk through several of the historic Frank Lloyd Wright-designed and -inspired homes in Oak Park and River Forest today (more on that tomorrow), we had lunch in Hemingway's neighborhood. I would have loved to tour the home and museum, but we ran out of time. This is on my list for our next visit!

Yes, it is spelled wrong...on purpose!
