Imperfections

“To banish imperfection is to destroy expression, to check exertion, to paralyze vitality.” - John Ruskin

As am amateur photographer, I spend hours contemplating my photos -- choosing the best in a series of snapshots, cropping, adjusting exposure and color, and even removing "flaws" from an otherwise agreeable image. Editing can certainly enhance the quality of photos; yet, it is equally important to recognize that "improving" upon nature is usually an artificial refinement that diminishes the subject's exceptional qualities. My goal continues to be to capture everyday moments without altering their unique beauty.
