« Mon Dieu que je mourrais content après avoir vu Carcassonne! »

- Gustave Nadaud, Carcassonne (chanson de Georges Brassens

The historic walled city of Carcassonne with its medieval citadel, la Cité, is located in France's Languedoc region. The fortress features numerous watchtowers and ramparts built in Gallo-Roman times. Carcassonne has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, but its roots date back to the neolithic period. Carcassonne's popularity has also inspired a board game and a mobile app where players construct fields, walls, buildings, and roads to build this impressive city.
