"The Elephant Outside the Room"
I've admired this sculpture many times both from inside and outside the Milwaukee Art Museum. Argo by Russian-American artist, Alexander Liberman, is intriguing from every angle. Its white steel circles and cylinders complement the Calatrava brise-soleil while the positive and negative space compose an abstract of the ancient Greek ship for which it's named. Yet, since visiting the art museum with my nephews last month, I have a completely new perspective. "It's an elephant, Auntie!" Do you see it?
