Hemingway Slept Here

May 21, 2015 (142/366)

"Where a man feels at home, outside of where he’s born, is where he’s meant to go.” - Ernest Hemingway

"Hemingway slept here..." -- it's almost another cliché. I've been to homes in Key West, Paris, the South of France, Spain --all places where Hemingway slept, and don't get me started on the "Hemingway drank here" signs. But this is where "Papa" was a baby. Ernest Hemingway was born here at 339 Oak Park Avenue in Oak Park, Illinois in 1899 and lived here for the first six years of his life.  After a lovely walk through several of the historic Frank Lloyd Wright-designed and -inspired homes in Oak Park and River Forest today (more on that tomorrow), we had lunch in Hemingway's neighborhood. I would have loved to tour the home and museum, but we ran out of time. This is on my list for our next visit!

Yes, it is spelled wrong...on purpose!

Cliché

"The biggest cliché in photography is sunrise and sunset." - Catherine Opie. And yet, sometimes, I just can't resist.

"It was the month of May, the month when the foliage of herbs and trees is most freshly green, when buds ripen and blossoms appear in their fragrance and loveliness." -  Sir Thomas Malory

Mondays...

May 16, 2016 (137/366) "Monday mornings are ruff!" - Piper Marie Larson-Horne

I had such a busy weekend visiting my grandparents and cousins and playing with all of my friends: Roxy, Sadie, Owen, and Lucky. It was so hard to get up this morning. I really wish my mom and dad could stay home and snuggle with me, but Mom says that this is the last full week of school before the "dog days of summer" begin!
