Hail Mary

Happy Feast Day to all of my Marian namesakes!

This beautiful Grotto of the Blessed Virgin, behind Saint Joan of Arc Chapel on the Marquette University campus, was dedicated earlier this year to honor Our Lady of Lourdes. The sacred space reminds us that our Blessed Mother always hears our prayers.

Summer Saturday in Chicago

“It is hopeless for the occasional visitor to try to keep up with Chicago. She is always a novelty; for she is never the Chicago you saw when you passed through the last time.” - Mark Twain "Life On The Mississippi," 1883

This time she was rosé on the 96th floor of the John Hancock Building with views as far as the eyes could see, a long walk down The Magnificent Mile, along the Chicago River, and through the theatre district, an amazing performance of Hamilton, and drinks at the Palmer House.

Week 31 - Storytelling: Friends and Family

“In the sweetness of friendship, let there be laughter and sharing of pleasures.” - Khalil Gibran

August • Colors of the Month

"The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning. The weeks that come before are only a climb from balmy spring, and those that follow a drop to the chill of autumn, but the first week of August is motionless, and hot. It is curiously silent, too, with blank white dawns and glaring noons, and sunsets smeared with too much color. " - Natalie Babbitt, Tuck Everlasting

“Some like it hot” and the heat is on this August as I feature warm colors this month.

July 2019 in Pictures

“Give thanks for the heavy perfume of wild roses in early July and the song of crickets on summer humid nights and the rivers that run and the stars that rise and the rain that falls and all the good things that a good God gives.” - Ann Voskamp
