Milwaukee Day • 414

The Lakefront, the Art Museum, Marquette, St. Joan of Arc Chapel and Gesu, the East Side, the Third Ward…

It has been exactly one month since I visited Milwaukee, but this print in our kitchen reminds me of the city I love. Bien-sûr, I love Paris (which is displayed on the opposite wall), but I was born in Milwaukee and lived there for nine years. Milwaukee will always be a place that I call Home. Here in Delafield, we are only 30 minutes away from our favorite restaurants, museums, neighborhoods, and marinas. We are staying away for now, but today I’m celebrating Milwaukee Day (414) and longing to be back.

How nice to be outside, enjoying a lovely cocktail on this sunny afternoon! If only I weren’t alone my deck with only a beagle and a glass of wine. This photo was actually taken on my birthday — the final day of February when I was blissfully ignorant of the challenges to come over these next few months. Nevertheless, we will strive to make the best of at least another 30 days of social distancing/quarantine. And to that end, this month, I intend to feature the happiest of hues to brighten our days. Here’s to a sunny, bright yellow April — no fooling!
