August 11, 2017 (223/365)

“L'art, c'est la plus sublime mission de l'homme, puisque c'est l'exercice de la pensée qui cherche à comprendre le monde et à le faire comprendre.” - Auguste Rodin

La Jeune fille au chapeau fleuri | The Girl in the Flowered Hat

La Valse | The Waltz (Camille Claudel)

La Cathédrale (Camille Claudel) - my favorite

Le Baiser | The Kiss

La Porte de l'Enfer | The Gates of Hell

Les Trois Ombres | The Three Shades

Les Bourgeois de Calais | The Berghers of Calais

Le Penseur | The Thinker

Most count the Louvre as a must-see when visiting Paris, but it can be overwhelming. I prefer some of Paris' smaller museums. A favorite is Musée Rodin and the sculpture gardens of beautiful Hôtel Biron. Since I, too, was celebrating a milestone in Paris this year, I seemed appropriate to visit during the museum's commemoration the centenary (rodin100.org) of Auguste Rodin (1840-1917).
