Paris, My Sweet

Earlier this week, I started reading Paris, My Sweet: A Year in the City of Light by Amy Thomas. I have been craving a good book and this tour of Paris' famed bakeries, pâtisseries, and chocolate shops is certainly satisfying my sweet tooth. Yet my appetite for Paris is voracious, so I'm going back -- in two weeks! What a sweet surprise!

French Friday: Les Crêpes

« À la Chandeleur, l'hiver cesse ou reprend vigueur; Chandeleur couverte, quarante jours de perte. »

I definitely prefer the French holiday and its tradition of eating crêpes to our American Groundhog Day. Yet la Chandeleur also comes with weather predictions:  "On Candlemas, winter ends or strengthens; If covered with snow, forty days to go." It's almost like waiting for the groundhog to see his shadow, but much more delicious!
