Printemps

April 21, 2018 (111/365) • Chéret Posters at the Milwaukee Art Museum

"Colorful, inventive posters advertising Paris’s many entertainment venues, products, department stores, and more in the late nineteenth century made their maker, the French artist Jules Chéret (1836–1932), famous. His work in color lithography, which was previously used for commercial printing, transformed printmaking into a medium that artists today still see as rich for experimentation. This exhibition features highlights from the gift of nearly six hundred Chéret posters to the Museum from local collectors James and Susee Wiechmann. (via mam.org)

For the Birds

 April 20, 2018 (110/365)

"That's the reason a bird can sing -- On his darkest day he believes in spring." - Douglas Malloch

We interrupt this spring (and our French Friday series) to bring you a lot of snow and beautiful, little birds looking for food. By next Friday, things should be "back to normal," but in the mean time, be like Mary Poppins and "feed the birds!"
