Coincidence

“When spring came, even false spring, there were no problems except where to be happiest.” - Ernest Hemingway

It can’t be a coincidence that today is the first day of spring, National Happiness Day (Why is there just one day?), and La Journée internationale du macaron!

A Pound of Lavender

“It was our favorite part of the day, this in-between time, and it always seemed to last longer than it should--a magic and lavender space unpinned from the hours around it, between worlds.” - Paula McLain, The Paris Wife

Have I mentioned that I received a pound of lavender for Christmas? I do love the color, fragrance, and taste of lavender, but I’m wondering what I will do with all of it. So far, I’ve filled decorative dishes with the dried buds to perfume the air in the living room and bedroom. I was thinking of filling some sachets for my drawers and closets. I already of lavender simple syrup for tea, lemonade, and cocktails. Any suggestions? Merci en avance!

Printemps

April 21, 2018 (111/365) • Chéret Posters at the Milwaukee Art Museum

"Colorful, inventive posters advertising Paris’s many entertainment venues, products, department stores, and more in the late nineteenth century made their maker, the French artist Jules Chéret (1836–1932), famous. His work in color lithography, which was previously used for commercial printing, transformed printmaking into a medium that artists today still see as rich for experimentation. This exhibition features highlights from the gift of nearly six hundred Chéret posters to the Museum from local collectors James and Susee Wiechmann. (via mam.org)

Sunday Funday

It's not Paris, but a great lunch with a great friend, French wine, and dessert on a sunny terrace in October is a great way to spend a Sunday.
