Comfort & Clarity

"Beauty and Faith"

Sometimes when one suffers from a crisis of faith,
 lack of confidence, or malaise,
the best thing to do is return to a place
of peace, tranquility, beauty, and clarity.

For me, that place is St. Joan of Arc Chapel
on the campus of Marquette University.

Père Marquette greets you as you approach
the 15th Century French chapel

and the bubbling fountain in the courtyard,

currently overgrown with pink roses.

They are beautifully untamed and gloriously fragrant.

A walk around the back reveals more
spiritually, artistic, and whimsical details.

I love these cherubs.
They always make me smile.

Eric thinks they're homely,
but I find them charming.

A walk around St. Joan of Arc
always helps me find comfort and clarity.

Tiny Treasures

July 1, 2013 Photo of the day: "Tiny Treasures"

During this afternoon's stroll through the garden,
I noticed that the white balloon flowers
underneath our redbud tree were blooming.

I knelt down for a closer look and a few pictures
when a unique shade of blue caught my eye:
The beautiful hue of Tiffany boxes and robins' eggs!

On this very windy day,
those delicate petals and tiny egg shells
were quite difficult to capture.

Sometimes the most beautiful moments require
focus, patience, and a gentle touch.
